That is so funny. I love it when folks share their embarassing stories. I have fallen down stairs too and my friends who watched and the one who helped brace my fall NEVER let me forget it. I have laughed till a single tear was shed! Such a Carrie Bradshaw moment and I as a wide-leg-pant-with-pointy-shoe-wearer can relate to the mishap. On the other hand what makes this story so funny is most can't relate to tripping in front of someone like the ex-president of Mexico of all people. I give you credit for at least trying to blame your friend. He could have at least played along!

!!!!!! When is your book coming out again!! He he he he. This was so funny. Fav parts:

-"a poodle pencil sharpener and a copy of Bread's Greatest Hits (I rationalized these latter two purchases with the fact they were on clearance)" - please tell me you still have the pencil sharpener

-"I caught sight of Vicente, who was bigger in person and donned a healthy black mustache rivaled only by Burt Reynolds in Smokey and the Bandit. He sat surrounded by his private guards, guys who wore dark sunglasses indoors, that's how badass they were. " - anytime you can fit "Burt Reynolds" and the word "badass" into a post, you've got yourself one hell of a story.
